Île aux Coco and Pointe au Diable, a day out of time
The must-do excursion of the north-west: Île aux Coco, a seabird sanctuary, and Pointe au Diable. To do as a full-day trip.
Île aux Coco is probably the most spectacular natural site in the Rodrigues lagoon. It is a protected nature reserve, a sanctuary for seabirds (mainly terns) — access is controlled and limited, which preserves its magic.
A postcard beach
The island is nothing but a long strip of white sand barely rising out of the water. No vegetation, no buildings — just the sand, the birds and the blue of the lagoon. The visual effect is striking.
Pointe au Diable
The outing is usually combined with Pointe au Diable, another remarkable spot in the north-west. Depending on the operator, lunch may be served on one of the islets.

- Duration: full day (morning departure, late-afternoon return)
- Regulated access: booking with a licensed operator is mandatory
- Bring along: swimsuit, towel, extra-strong sun protection (zero shade), hat, plenty of water
- Good to know: the tide affects the crossing — the operator sets the schedule
