Caverne Patate
One of the largest limestone caves of Rodrigues, explored on a guided visit.
Caverne Patate is one of the most impressive underground cavities of Rodrigues. Carved into the coral limestone that forms part of the island, it extends over several hundred metres.
The visit
The visit must be made with a guide, who presents the geological formation of the cave, its concretions (stalactites, stalagmites) and the surprising shapes that imagination lends to the rocks — hence the name of the place.

- Guided visit mandatory
- Bring along: closed shoes (the floor can be slippery), a lamp if needed
- Good to know: lighting inside is limited — the visit remains accessible but requires a minimum of mobility
