From Mourouk to Saint-François, the wild coast
An easy coastal walk that strings together the most beautiful coves of Rodrigues: Trou d'Argent, Anse Bouteille, Anse Philibert. To do on your own.
This is probably the most iconic walk in Rodrigues — and the most accessible. The trail follows the east coast between Mourouk and Saint-François, crossing a succession of wild coves with turquoise waters.
The route
Along the way, you discover in order:
- Trou d’Argent — probably the most famous, wedged between two limestone cliffs
- Anse Bouteille — more discreet, perfect for a swim
- Anse Philibert — a little further on, often deserted
The idea: set off early in the morning to enjoy each cove before the heat, and reach Saint-François in time for lunch.
Where to eat in Saint-François
Two addresses are part of the walk:
- Chez Robert et Solange — family-style Creole cooking
- Chez Dana — the village’s other go-to place
Book the day before if possible — seats are limited and guided groups often have lunch there.
