Anse aux Anglais → Port Sud-Est, via the Victoire Dépret waterfall
Four hours of walking across the interior of Rodrigues, with the Victoire Dépret waterfall as the highlight. High difficulty and a guide is mandatory.
This is one of the most beautiful crossings of Rodrigues — and one of the most demanding. The trail links Anse aux Anglais on the north coast to Port Sud-Est, cutting through the mountainous interior of the island.
The highlight of the walk: the Victoire Dépret waterfall
Halfway along, you discover the Victoire Dépret waterfall, nestled in the hollow of a valley. It is one of the island’s rare permanent water points — a refreshing stop before the second half of the route.
Why a guide is mandatory
- The trail is not marked along its entire length
- The elevation gain is significant and some sections are technical
- After heavy rain, some sections can become difficult to cross
- A guide knows the alternative routes depending on the day’s conditions
